"The day my husband and I met Johnetta, I knew we had made one of the best decisions for the birth of our son. It seemed as if she was the perfect fit into our birthing puzzle. I knew I wanted this birth to be different from my previous two that were both in Hospitals and did not give me the experience I felt deep down that I could have. Since we were giving birth to our perfect gift during the pandemic I did not feel that the hospital was the best fit. Bringing my baby earthside in chaos was not an option. When we decided on a water birth at home Johnetta was so supportive. I feel extremely blessed to have had Johnetta present for the Birth of my 3rd son. She made me feel comfortable and empowered, even in control of my birthing experience and labor. She helped me behind the scenes right up until the moment SHE delivered my son. Labor started off pretty smooth for me and when things sped up my midwife had not arrived. Johnetta did not panic and her calm demeanor was a guiding light for my family and I when my little prince couldn't wait any longer and was born right into Johnetta's hands. It was very important to me this go round to have a supportive team to increase my chances of having a vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC). Although the corona virus changed the way we could interact during labor and delivery, we still were able to connect virtually and she offered to come to the house to assist in laboring at home. My husband and I highly recommend Johnetta. She was truly a God send in our birth journey. She's down to earth, answered all of our questions and concerns and above all nurturing.I went in thinking I knew a lot and that I wanted her there more to support my husband but everything I thought I knew she clarified and even suggested or mentioned aspects that I had no idea existed or knew I needed.Johnetta was there every step of the way not only giving me advice but my husband as well. "Johnetta was my doula for the birth of my first child in late July 2019. She was awesome and I highly recommend her. I would definitely hire her again! She was always available and willing to chat before the birth- sending me helpful resources and tips and offering advice when we chatted on the phone. I hired her only a few weeks before the birth because my other doula fell through, and she was great and constantly checked in. She was a lifesaver during my birth at GW hospital. She met us there at 2am immediately after we called her. I was having a tough time, and she immediately offered relief with back massages and position ideas and suggestions. She also had some doula tool that she would roll over my back that helped me relax. She stayed with me in the hospital over my entire, very long labor, well into the next night, and she was extremely helpful. My husband was also very relieved she was there, because even though we had read books and taken classes she knew instantly what to do and could show my husband as well, so they could switch off giving me massages, etc. She also comforted my mom who was having a tough time watch me labor."
